Windows10 timeout

Tailscale User:
Hello there,
I just installed tailscale on my Win10 and my pop_os machines and I wanted to see if I can ssh using powershell into my linux machine but the connection doesn’t seem to work. So I tried running ping [hello.ipn.dev](http://hello.ipn.dev/) from powershell but again the request timed out.

From windows ipconfig shows:

Unknown adapter Tailscale:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.83.107
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . .: 255.255.0.0

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

Please let me know if this is a known issue on Windows.

Cheers, W

On Linux, can you ping your Windows machine? What does “tailscale status” say after you try?

Tailscale User:
While writing this email it worked… I upgraded the linux client to 1.0.3 and played around with some commands (sending pings to 100.101.102.103 or hello.ipn.dev, tailscale status, etc) maybe that opened some ports… after a while pings started to pass.

I’ll let you know if this happens again.
