Need clarification regarding MagicDNS

Tailscale version 1.36.1
Your operating system & version. windows 10, MacOS 13.1

the tailscale documentation for Magic DNS says this…

MagicDNS does not require a DNS nameserver if running Tailscale v1.20 or later. Otherwise, your network must have at least one DNS nameserver set in the admin console. These nameservers will receive all DNS queries not handled by MagicDNS.

I understand this, but I cannot find any information about what happens with a DNS request which does not match anything in my tailnet…like google.com for example, when there are no DNS nameservers set in the admin console. where is the request sent?

of course, this must be known. I can’t find documentation. nobobdy knows?
