Change Tailnet name

If it’s possible, how do I change the Tailnet name?

Thanks

If you have a reasonable number of nodes, like less than 10, the simplest way is to log each one out and log in using the new email address.

If you have a larger number of nodes, you can email support@tailscale.com to do so.

Thanks for the reply.

Does that mean that the Tailnet name is always the email domain, e…g, xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com?

And would logging each node out and signing back in give it a new IP?

For tailnets using a service provider domain like gmail.com or outlook .com, the tailnet name is always user@provider.com

For multi-user tailnets who bring their own domain using Google Workplace, O365, Okta, or Onelogin, the tailnet name is always the domain name like example.com.

For single-user GitHub tailnets, the name is the GitHub profile name.

For multi-user GitHub tailnets, the name is the GitHub Organization name.

We can move nodes from one email domain to another. We cannot move nodes from a tailnet using email addresses to a tailnet using GitHub, there isn’t a reasonable way to map an email name to a profile name.

And would logging each node out and signing back in give it a new IP?

Yes. When you log out of one tailnet and into another, the nodes will get a new Tailscale IP address.
