Trying to change tailscale machine name but just get a red ‘Failed to update machine name’ message on website.
I vaguely remember this was flagged as a bug in github a while but wonder - why is going on in the backend that causes this bug and why is it hard to fix?
Could you log out/in from the Admin Console and try again. Let me know if the problem persists.
If so, please email the tailscale ip address of that machine to support@tailscale.com
seems like a logout and login in fixed the problem (?!)

If we’re doing a control server update, there’s a very short window where this type of request might fail. There was a control update yesterday, so I expect that was the issue.
