Tailscale towards Synology NAS / Local Network

I’m running a Synology NAS at home.
There I have a local network and the NAS is at for example 192.168.53.2.
In my Windows PC I then have some shared folders mapped to for example F: and G: at for example: \192.168.53.2\Data\

I now want to access these shared folders also when I’m not at home, but without having to change their adress. (Like VPN functionality)
I can access them if I copy the IP from my nas device in the TailScale (Network Devices / My Devices). But that is at another IP adress: 100.xxx.xxx.xxx something.

I would like to access the NAS network at its original IP.

Is there a way to do this?

Absolutely! I have done exactly that for my home network and a business network using Tailscale.

You can install Tailscale on the Synology directly from the package center and then follow the guide here: Subnet routers and traffic relay nodes · Tailscale

You will need to perform a few steps via command line connecting to the Synology via ssh, but this will work exactly as you want.

Good Luck!
