I need a layer 2 VPN so I run Softether (L2TP) VPN on certain devices including my Mac. After I installed Tailscale on the Mac, Softether stopped working. I believe it broke something, but I don’t know where to look. Help please.

Well, for whatever reason Apple pushed out an update to macOS BigSur. Once I downloaded/installed 11.7.4 Softether started working again. This convinces me Tailscale did break something with Softether, but I still have no idea what.
