One piece of feedback I get from tailscale users at my company is that they often don’t realize they’re not connected to the VPN anymore.
This leads to all sorts of fun and nonsense - for example someone thought our internal observability stack was down because a grafana dashboard they had open started showing a bunch of errors about backend errors.
People have different suggestions (like letting people know they’re disconnected with a modal popup they can’t avoid) but I think maybe an easy change would be to make the tailscale icon more noticeable when disconnected. Maybe with colors (red if disconnected, orange is device key expires soon?), though I’m not sure macOs allows this.
